It's Baaaaaaaaaacck!
What an exciting time! Metlakatla is bringing Home Economics back! It's been many years since Home Economics has been offered at the high school, and with support from administration, the School Board, and the community, students will now have the opportunity to learn important life skills. Home Economics has evolved into a diverse field; cooking and sewing are no longer the only topics covered. Students will learn personal and family finance and budgeting, home and interior design and decorating, child development theories, parenting strategies, laundry skills, hosting, etiquette, and much more! There still will be ample time for students to learn the basics of hand and machine sewing, and they will create garments of their choice in the course. Students will learn basic cooking and baking techniques, and will have the opportunity to host their friends or family members at a meal planned, prepared and served by them! I look forward to making this year educational and memorable for the students in the course. Let's get cooking!
